Is it really wood?

Yes, and we're rather proud of it. Each piece is drawn by Natalie, painted in flat colour, then precision-cut so the colour comes away in crisp facets framed by toasted edges. The wood is the medium, the way canvas is a painter's, and it's what gives each piece its weight, its facets and its character.

Who makes them, and how?

One person, start to finish. Natalie Crisp designs and makes every piece in her Cheshire studio, from the first sketch to the final finishing. Each one is drawn, painted in flat colour, then precision-cut on a laser and CNC, with some elements shaped by hand on a lathe, and hand-finished and assembled. The fuller story lives on Our Story.

Will mine look exactly like the photos?

Very nearly, with the small differences that come of being made one at a time from natural materials. The grain of the wood, the hand-finishing and the hand-assembly mean no two pieces are ever quite identical. Yours is yours.

How big are they?

It depends on the piece. Every product page lists the exact dimensions and shows it styled in a real room, next to everyday things, so you can judge the scale at a glance before you buy. Many of our pieces are a little bigger than people expect, which we rather enjoy.

Can I order a custom or bespoke piece?

Often, yes, and it's some of our favourite work. Colour is where every piece starts, so if the shade you want isn't in the range, Natalie can mix it and build a piece around it. One-off commissions and bespoke sizes are usually possible too. It starts with an email to the studio: tell her what you have in mind (for colour, a photo or a paint name is all it takes), and she'll come back with what's possible and a price.

How do I look after it?

Very little to it. Dust now and then, or wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Like any piece of art, it's happiest out of strong, direct sun: the colours are lightfast and stay true, but bare wood will warm a little in bright daylight over time, so away from a sunny window keeps a piece closest to how it arrived.

Can I see them in person?

For now, Poppily is mostly online. We pop up at the occasional event through the year, the odd Christmas market and the like, and you'll find us with one or two stockists. The best way to catch where we'll be next is Instagram, where we pin the latest dates to the top of the page (@poppily_ever_after). In the meantime, every product page shows each piece styled in a real room, with exact dimensions, so you can weigh up colour and scale from the sofa.

How does it arrive, and is there anything to do?

Beautifully boxed, with everything held safely in place. What happens next depends on the piece: some are ready to display straight away, and the Blooms you arrange yourself in a vase of your own, which takes a little doing but only the once. Each product page spells out exactly what to expect, and what's included.

Why do delivery times vary?

Because most pieces are made to order. Each one is designed, made and hand-finished in Cheshire after you order, usually within about a week depending on the piece, so it's made for you, start to finish. A favourite piece or two we keep made up and ready to send, for when a week feels too long. Each product page shows whether yours is ready now or made to order, and if you're working to a date, email the studio and we'll tell you what's possible.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Not as standard, but often yes. Because each piece is boxed with care, we quote overseas delivery case by case. Email the studio with where you are and what you're after, and we'll sort a price.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Choose Klarna at checkout and you can spread the cost over three payments. You'll see the amount per instalment before you confirm.

What if it arrives damaged?

It shouldn't: every piece travels in packaging built to protect it, on a tracked service. On the rare occasion something goes astray or arrives less than perfect, get in touch and we'll put it right.

What if I change my mind?

We want you to love your piece, so if you've had a change of heart, here's how it works. You have 14 days from the day it arrives to tell us you'd like to return it, and a further 14 days to send it back, unused and in its original box. We'll refund you, including the standard delivery you paid, within 14 days of it reaching us safely (return postage is yours to cover). The one exception is bespoke and custom pieces: because they're made to your own specification, they can't be returned for a change of mind. And if anything ever arrives faulty, that's a separate matter, and your legal rights are unaffected. Still weighing it up? Email the studio before you order and we'll help you land on the right one first time.

Can I send one as a gift?

Of course. Every piece arrives in a custom box, so it travels and unwraps beautifully. At checkout you can send it straight to your recipient: add a delivery address that differs from your billing one, and use the 'add a note' box for a personal message. Sharing a home with the person you're surprising? Ask for a discreet delivery in that same note, and we'll send it with the branding concealed, so the surprise survives the doormat.
